Abstract: The model integrating professional master's degree education in clinical medicine and standardized training for resident physicians has become an important way in the training of clinical medical personnel in China. This model plays an important role in strengthening the clinical training of the candidates and improving their working ability after graduation. Infectious diseases currently belongs to the category of internal medicine. Under the current training model for professional master's degree candidates in infectious diseases, there is a gap between the learning content in the department of infectious diseases in standardized training for internal medicine and the needs of infectious disease prevention and treatment. The learning content of courses needs to be improved. The clinical research training for candidates is insufficient. These problems influence the quality of thesis, the professional capacity, and the development potential of the candidates. Education organizations should ensure well coordination between training stages, formulate reasonable requirement for academic research, and strengthen the clinical research training for candidates, so as to provide talent support for the prevention and treatment work of infectious diseases.
