Abstract: Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) is a mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV), primarily transmitted through Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. In recent years, with global climate warming and the expansion of international travel, the endemic range of CHIKV has continued to expand, making it a significant global public health threat. Infected individuals typically present with fever, arthralgia, and rash, and some patients developing chronic arthritis that severely affects quality of life. Currently, there are no specific antiviral treatments for CHIKF, and vaccines have not yet achieved widespread coverage, making epidemic surveillance and vector control crucial for curbing disease transmission. This article reviews the virological characteristics, epidemiological status, clinical manifestations, and diagnostic methods of CHIKV, analyzes current challenges in prevention and control efforts, and proposes comprehensive strategies integrating multidisciplinary collaboration, technological empowerment, and social mobilization, providing insights for China's response to CHIKF and other mosquito-borne diseases.
